Subtitle Converter

Convert between SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SUB, LRC, SAMI, TTML, JSON and CSV in bulk.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Subtitle Converter works

A built-in subtitle engine reads each format into timed lines and writes them back out, keeping timing to the millisecond. Text encodings are detected automatically, with a picker for old files.

Input: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SUB, LRC, SMI, TTML, DFXP, JSON, CSV, TXT. Output: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SUB, LRC, SMI, TTML, JSON, CSV, TXT.

How to use Subtitle Converter

  1. Drop one or more subtitle files.
  2. Pick the output format.
  3. Fix the text encoding if letters look wrong.
  4. Download one file or a ZIP of all.

Tips

  • MicroDVD SUB counts frames, so set the frame rate of your video.
  • Use the remove styling switch for players that show tags as text.

Subtitle Converter FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
