How Mock Data Generator works

Rows are generated with Faker in the locale you pick. Each column has a type, an optional share of blank values, and a seed so you can get the same data again. Up to a million rows are built in your browser and downloaded as a file.

Output: JSON, CSV, SQL, NDJSON, TSV.

How to use Mock Data Generator

1. Add, name and order your columns and pick a type for each.
2. Choose the number of rows, format and locale.
3. Check the preview and download.

Tips

• Keep "Repeatable" on to get the same rows for tests every time.
• Use the Blank % field to test how your app handles missing values.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything runs in this browser tab on your own device. Engines are downloaded once and cached, but your files never leave your computer.

Is any of this real?

No. Every value is random. Card numbers are test numbers that pass format checks but cannot be charged.

Are my files uploaded?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.

Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?

Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
