Image to Base64

Encode images as data URIs, or decode Base64 back to images.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Image to Base64 works

Image to Base64 runs entirely in your browser. Encode images as data URIs, or decode Base64 back to images. Under the hood it uses FileReader (reads files straight from your disk into memory). Your files are read into this tab’s memory, processed on your own CPU, and handed back to you as a download. Nothing is sent to a server.

Input: JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP.

How to use Image to Base64

  1. Drop one or more images onto Image to Base64.
  2. Tune the options. The before/after preview updates live.
  3. Process the batch.
  4. Download a single image, or everything as a ZIP.

Tips

  • Most image tools accept many files at once.
  • WebP and AVIF give much smaller files than JPG at the same visual quality.
  • Set a default image quality in Settings. Tools that do not choose their own quality use it.

Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
