Sign PDF

Draw, type or upload a signature and place it anywhere, plus dates and initials.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Sign PDF works

Sign PDF runs entirely in your browser. Draw, type or upload a signature and place it anywhere, plus dates and initials. Under the hood it uses pdf-lib (a pure-JavaScript library that creates and edits PDF structure (pages, text, images, forms)), PDF.js (Mozilla’s PDF renderer, used for thumbnails, previews and text extraction (runs in a Web Worker)) and signature_pad (smooth, pressure-aware signature drawing on canvas). Your files are read into this tab’s memory, processed on your own CPU, and handed back to you as a download. Nothing is sent to a server.

Input: PDF.

How to use Sign PDF

  1. Drop the PDF you need to sign.
  2. Create a signature: draw it, type it in a handwriting font, or upload an image.
  3. Click the page to place it; drag and resize as needed. Add dates or initials too.
  4. Apply and download the signed PDF.

Tips

  • Your signature is drawn and embedded locally. It is never uploaded.
  • This creates a visual signature, not a certificate-based digital signature.

Sign PDF FAQ

Is this legally binding?
Visual e-signatures are accepted for many everyday agreements, but requirements vary by country and document. For regulated documents, use a certificate-based signing service.
Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
