PDF to Markdown
Turn PDF text into clean Markdown with headings, lists, bold and italic text, and tables.
Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.
How PDF to Markdown works
PDF.js reads every text item with its position, size and font. Lines are grouped into headings (by size), paragraphs, lists and tables, running headers and page numbers are dropped, and the result is written as GitHub-flavoured Markdown.
Input: PDF. Output: MD, ZIP.
How to use PDF to Markdown

- Check the live preview.
- Convert and download the result.
Tips
- Conversions run entirely in your tab, so very large files depend on your device’s memory.
- For best fidelity, start from the original digital file rather than a scan.
PDF to Markdown FAQ
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
- Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
- Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
