Word Find & Replace

Replace words in many DOCX files at once, across the body, headers, footers and footnotes, keeping formatting.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Word Find & Replace works

Files are opened in your browser with SheetJS and JSZip. Nothing is uploaded, and your original file is never changed. Word often splits one word into several formatted pieces. The tool joins them before searching, so matches are not missed.

Input: DOCX. Output: DOCX, ZIP.

How to use Word Find & Replace

  1. Drop one or more DOCX files.
  2. Add find and replace pairs.
  3. Set match case, whole words or patterns.
  4. Press Replace and download.

Tips

  • Excel, ODS and CSV all work. Formulas are read as their last saved values.
  • For CSV files with odd characters, save them as UTF-8 first.

Word Find & Replace FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
